Meet the Artists 

The Ohio Plein Air Society (OPAS) is a collection of artists and art lovers sharing a common interest in outdoor painting. OPAS is proud to be at the forefront of the resurgent plein air movement in the United States. From the French en plein air, or “in open air”; plein air artists work outside, in natural lighting conditions, capturing the ephemeral atmospheric and lighting conditions. Members represent nearly every county in Ohio, and from each of the surrounding states. OPAS is a nonprofit organization and welcomes and supports artists, patrons, educators, and enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, backgrounds and interests.

Robin Roberts
Robin Roberts is the current president of the Ohio Plein Air Society. He is represented locally by the Hayley Gallery in New Albany, Ohio where he will have a solo show in November of 2019. His goal is to capture the beauty of God’s creation in paint. Tamar Rudavsky
When not engaged in teaching philosophy at OSU, TMR is outdoors, either running, gardening, or painting. Painting “en plein air” is her way of articulating the essential flow of time, place and space, all interacting. Debra Joyce Dawson
Debra Joyce Dawson is a founder and Past President of Ohio Plein Air Society. Debra has served as Awards Artist for Ohio’s Governors Award for the Arts and as Artist-in-Residence for Hiawatha National Forest, MI, and La Vignette, Dinan, France. Debra is represented in Columbus by Sharon Weiss Gallery, and will have a Solo Exhibition at the Zanesville Museum of Art, September 2019. Robine Wright
Robine Wright is a nationally known artist.  She is a member of Alabama, Indiana and Ohio plein air organizations, Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society.  A member of Ohio Watercolor Society and President of Western Ohio Watercolor Society.  Painting is a passion and she enjoys capturing a moment and telling and telling the story.

Nora Daniel

Nora Daniel finds much joy in painting local scenes whether in Ohio or at various points across the globe. Her style is expressive, vibrant and inventive, remaining ever reverent to her personal perception of reality. In addition to landscape, Daniel is constantly exploring still lives, interiors, and portraits, among other subjects. Carrie Boerio
Carrie Lacey Boerio uses painting as a way to explore the world. Her use of composition and vibrant color invite the viewer step into the painting and share the view. Her work is eclectic, and includes original and commissioned art, plein air landscapes, floral studies, figurative and wildlife subjects, and pure abstraction. Cecilia Brendel
Brendel is a technical artist evolved into fine art oil painter. She loves painting plein air, castles and religious art and specializes in miniature oils. Cindy S. Terry
Terry was born and raised in Columbus where she developed a love and keen eye for art at an early age and went on to study fine art at CCAD and OSU. As a military spouse, Cindy had the opportunity to live in Germany for 9 years where she traveled Europe drawing great inspiration for her work. Candice VanSchoyck
VanSchoyck has been making art since early childhood and studied Fashion Illustration and Figure Drawing at CSAD evenings in the late 60’s. She paints en plein air and says it feeds the soul and challenges every aspect of creative self-expression. “Capturing the essence of the subject in moments in time is my goal”. Peg Vasil
Art has entrieged Vasil since she can remember and she took every art class in high school available.  She enjoys being outside painting en plein air—seeing the sunlight`s drama on objects outside inspires her to try to capture it.

Diane Grguras
Grguras’ paintings are an expression of how she sees and feels about the natural world—its beautiful diversity, as well as its order and logic. She has been painting outside for about 15 years, providing her a spiritual quality of both the pastoral and the urban landscape.
