The 2020 Columbus Dispatch and Encova Insurance Scholar Athlete Awards celebrates student athletes who excel on and off the field. The full 2020 website will go live on Thursday, June 4. Please enjoy the information from the 2019 event below.
Scholar Athlete nominees will receive a congratulatory packet mailed to their home address in early May.
“As you embark on the next chapter of your life, find something you are just as passionate about as your sport. Take a look around you at the people who are here with you tonight - you couldn’t have gotten here without them and you can’t get to the next place without their support.”
The Scholar Athlete Awards have been an annual Columbus Dispatch initiative for more than 37 years and in that time more than $1 million in scholarships have been awarded to elite graduating seniors. This June 5th will mark our fourth-annual LIVE recognition event for Scholar Athletes and the community. That night, we'll recognize the top female and male graduating seniors from 117 area high schools for their achievements in academics, athletics, leadership and service. Twenty-two students will take home a share of $96,500 in college scholarships.
